San Francisco-based Smith Point first gained national attention when two of their songs were featured on the CW's One Tree Hill. Since then, the band has been featured on several national television shows, commercials, and nationwide radio stations ¡V a rare accomplishment for an unsigned band.

Featuring Justin Barra on guitar (MPP '10), Smith Point was formed in 2002 when Christian Navarro and Barra met at Georgetown University in Washington, DC. The band has been playing and touring ever since, playing countless sold out shows in their hometown of San Francisco, and across the country from Texas to New York.

Smith Point has released two EPs. Their most recent, Prospect Street, was recorded and mixed by Tony Espinoza (Alanis Morissette, David Gray). The CD features Nadir Jeevanjee on drums (The Calling, Justin King).

Kingsofar.com placed Smith Point "somewhere between the melodic beauty of the Goo Goo Dolls/Counting Crows and the hooky charm of Good Charlotte/Jimmy Eat World." Southofmainstream.com says that Smith Point "makes a pretty convincing case for popular culture."
